Morison’s Haven

The fate of Morison’s Haven was very much tied to the fate of Scotland. The harbour, known as Morison’s Haven, opened in 1526. Over the next couple of centuries, the harbour flourished, exporting salt and coal and importing luxury goods and materials needed to maintain industrial production.

It was also a sanctuary for fishing boats. The harbour declined in the 20th century, and land reclamation work in the 1960s has made the harbour unrecognisable.

The mural now stands as a celebration of Morison’s Haven and Prestonpans’ industrial history.
