The Bing Boys

Football and bowls have long been popular in East Lothian. Between the Cuthill houses and Summerlee, there was a red bing (mining waste) which functioned as a football pitch for the local team, The Bing Boys.

Lynda Whyte combined bowling and football in her mural dedicated to sports in Prestonpans. It’s accompanied by a poem written by Annette Gilroy of the Prestonpans Historical Society.
