Summerlee

In the 1870s and 1880s, the Summerlee company built its workers simple houses with shared washing and laundry facilities across the road in the Cuthill area of Prestonpans. It shows a row of houses, the local primary school and a scene from the Cuthill community park.

It was painted by Thomas Ewing, whose parents lived in Summerlee.
